Following the success of FYSO’s first three weekend courses over the last year, we are delighted to confirm that we will be running further events throughout the next academic year. So the dates for your diaries are:

15-16 October 2016
February/March 2017 (to be confirmed)
10-11 June 2017

Bookings will open soon, and we look forward to seeing current and new members again.

Bookings now open for next FYSO weekend

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2016

Selwood Academy, Frome

The theme for the next FYSO weekend will be “stories”, with a particular focus on “Pictures at an Exhibition”. Along with learning great music for string ensemble over the weekend,  there will be opportunities to play in smaller chamber groups, sing and create beautiful art work all with highly experienced and inspirational tutors, and show off what you have done in a concert on Sunday afternoon. And as a special extra treat there will also be a folk fiddle workshop with Seona Pritchard where you will have fun learning some great fiddle tunes whichever stringed instrument you play! There is also a performance opportunity a few weeks later, prior to Frome Symphony’s Festival concert on the evening of Sunday 3rd July.
