Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January 2016
Selwood Academy, Frome
Learn two of Purcell’s most famous pieces for strings, his Chaconne and the Abdelazer Suite which includes the famous rondeau that Benjamin Britten used in his Young Persons’ Guide to the Orchestra.
This time, as part of the course there is the unique opportunity to be part of Frome Symphony Orchestra’s family concert on 30th January and perform alongside the orchestra as they play the Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra!
Along with learning great music for string ensemble over the weekend, there will be opportunities to play in smaller chamber groups, sing and create beautiful art work all with highly experienced and inspirational tutors, and show off what you have done in a concert on Sunday afternoon. And as a special extra treat there will also be a folk fiddle workshop with Seona Pritchard where you will have fun learning some great fiddle tunes whichever stringed instrument you play!
